Bow Hunter’s Syndrome Caused by Atlo-Occipital Malformation: Dynamic Color Doppler Sonography Diagnosis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Bow hunter’s syndrome (BHS) is a rare symptomatic vertebrobasilar insufficiency in which vertebral artery (VA) is mechanically occluded during head rotation. Various pathologic conditions have been reported as causes of bow hunter’s stroke. To our knowledge, however, just two cases associated with complex cranio-cervical junction (CCJ) malformation with atlantooccipital assimilation were reported. We present an unusual case of rotational occlusion of VA in a 12-year-old male with bow hunter’s syndrome manifesting as repeated vertebrobasilar ischemic attacks induced by left head rotation during sport practice. Blood flow changes were dynamically detected with Color Doppler Sonography. Computer Tomography revealed the complex CCJ malformation. For accurate diagnosis and treatment of BHS, neuroimaging with cervical rotation is mandatory.

I-45: Color Doppler Sonography of Endometrium in Infertility Patients
Background Endometrial receptivity is one of parameters which determine the reproductive outcome in in vitro fertilization programs. A good blood supply towards the endometrium is usually considered to be an essential requirement for implantation. Blood vessels of the endometrium can be detected by transvaginal color and pulse Doppler sonography. Color Doppler assessment permits better visualiz...

Uterine Arteriovenous Malformations (AVMs) are rare but life threatening causes of abnormal vaginal bleeding. Accurate clinical and radiological diagnosis is essential because uterine instrumentation that is often used for management of other sources of abnormal bleeding, can lead to massive hemorrhage. Timely diagnosis and early proper treatment can markedly reduce the associated disease morta...
متن کاملAdvances in the Pathogenesis, Diagnosis and Treatment of Bow Hunter's Syndrome: A Comprehensive Review of the Literature.
Bow hunter's syndrome (BHS), also known as rotational vertebral artery (VA) occlusion syndrome, is a rare yet treatable type of symptomatic vertebrobasilar insufficiency resulting from mechanical occlusion or stenosis of the VA during head and neck rotation or extension. The symptoms of BHS range from transient vertigo to posterior circulation stroke. The underlying pathology is dynamic stenosi...
متن کاملArteriovenous malformation in uterine cervix during pregnancy
As the development of Doppler ultrasonography, many cases of uterine arteriovenous malformation (AVM) have beed diagnosed. But there is no case of cervical AVM in pregnant uterus. We present a 33-year-old pregnant woman who was diagnosed with AVM of the uterine cervix during the midtrimester. Color Doppler sonography and magnetic resonance image were used for diagnosis. We performed Cesarean se...

OBJECTIVE The purpose of this series is to describe the prenatal diagnosis and pregnancy outcome of fetuses affected with Dandy-Walker malformation in which a posterior cyst herniated through a bony defect of the occipital skull, foramen magnum, or both. METHODS Two- and 3-dimensional sonography were used to examine 2 fetuses with poorly delineated cerebellar structures and a large posterior ...
